  • Smoothwall is a robust internet security and content filtering software used at LSP's head office to provide a safe and controlled online experience for all users. It acts as a firewall and intrusion prevention system, protecting internal networks from cyber threats and unauthorised access from the outside world. Additionally, Smoothwall filters web content, ensuring that learners and LSP staff can access appropriate websites while blocking access to harmful or inappropriate content.

    Content Filtering: The software categorises and analyses websites to determine their appropriateness based on predefined policies. It restricts access to websites with explicit content, adult material, or content not suitable for educational or work environments.

    Reporting and Monitoring: The software provides detailed reports and real-time monitoring of internet usage. LSP administrators can track user activities, view network performance metrics, and are alerted to any potential safeguarding threats.

Developing your English and Maths

Meet Julie Nicholson, our Functional Skills and SEND Specialist. Julie works closely with learners, tutors, and employers to make sure everyone has what they need to succeed.

Here’s what Julie can help with:

  • SEND support: 1:1 guidance, tailored learning strategies, and help arranging reasonable adjustments for learning or assessments.

  • Functional Skills: Support with English and Maths through small group or 1:1 sessions - helping you build confidence and essential skills for work and life.

  • Bitesize Maths and English Webinars: these take place every week, covering various topics, providing you with the knowledge and skills to apply in your workplace.

Additional support can also be provided, such as:

  • Personalised learning plans to suit your needs and goals

  • Extra help on coursework, assessments, or study skills

  • Guidance on adjustments in the workplace

  • Wellbeing and mentoring support to help you stay confident and motivated

  • Regular progress reviews to make sure you always feel supported
