Apprentice of the Month - January 26

January Apprentice of the Month: Nathan Finnan

We are delighted to announce that our January Apprentice of the Month is Nathan Finnan at SOCOTEC UK. Nathan was nominated by LSP’s Functional Skills & SEND Specialist, Julie, in recognition of his outstanding commitment, resilience, and passion for developing his Maths and English skills alongside a demanding role.

Nathan had weekly Maths and English sessions scheduled throughout the year. While workload pressures occasionally made attendance challenging, he consistently showed determination by catching up on missed learning and staying on track with his progress.

As Julie shared in her nomination:

“I would like to nominate Nathan for his commitment, determination and passion for Maths and English. We had weekly sessions booked in – sometimes Nathan’s workload was too much for him to attend, but he tried to make the time up.

His determination was especially evident on the day of his maths exam. Due to an unexpected issue at work, Nathan was unable to sit the exam at the allocated time. Despite feeling under the weather with a bad cold and having had a challenging day, he chose not to delay his progress and completed it in the evening.”

Over the course of the year, Nathan has consistently demonstrated enthusiasm and a positive mindset toward his learning and development.

“Nathan has demonstrated exceptional commitment and enthusiasm in both Maths and English throughout the year. His positive attitude toward learning is evident in every lesson.”

In Maths, Nathan’s perseverance and resilience have been particularly evident.

“He tackles complex problems with focus and resilience, often seeking deeper understanding rather than settling for surface-level answers.”

Rather than avoiding challenges, Nathan actively engages with them, applies feedback, and continually pushes himself to improve.

In English, his confidence and creativity have continued to flourish.

“Nathan brought creativity, curiosity, and energy to his work. He participates actively in discussions, contributes insightful ideas, and shows real enthusiasm for reading and writing tasks.”

This commitment to continuous improvement has resulted in clear and consistent progress across both subjects, with Nathan setting a strong example for others in his cohort.

“Nathan’s attitude makes him a role model for his peers. His dedication, enthusiasm, and consistent effort make him highly deserving of this nomination.”

Nathan responded to this recognition saying:

“I am pleased to have been nominated for Apprentice of the Month, and won! I have worked so hard to get to where I want to be and I couldn't have done it without LSP and SOCOTEC. I have enjoyed all my learning with LSP and put a lot of effort in, even with having personal issues, like recently losing my grandad. Thank you to all staff at LSP, and thank you Julie.”

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Nathan’s achievements this month. His resilience, positivity, and determination truly embody the spirit of apprenticeships.

Congratulations once again to Nathan on this well-deserved recognition. Well done!
