Get to know the the LSP Team

As part of a regular feature we would like to give an insight into the LSP team members. It is always nice to find out a little more about those we work alongside and many of our staff have a wealth of knowledge, interests and hobbies that would really surprise you!

Meet Danni Millington

Support Coach

What sort of duties do you have at work?

My role is Support Coach for the Construction learners. This involves carrying our progress reviews with all construction learners, asking questions about their learning and their employment and ensuring that they are happy, safe and well. Part of my role also involves discussing topics that are happening in the world and highlighting any important Equality and Diversity issues. I work with learners from signup to them completing their EPA, and offer any additional support they may need throughout their learning journey, including supporting them with any career development, providing them with additional resources and answering any questions of concerns they have about their Apprenticeship Qualification. I also monitor learners E-Assessor accounts, such as keeping track of their attendance, evidence and off the job hours, and adding in lesson plans every week.

What is the most exciting part of your job?

Maybe not the most exciting, but definitely the most rewarding part of my role is seeing learners complete their qualification. I’m really looking forward to the Summer Period when a lot of learners will be completing their qualifications with us. Its so wonderful to be part of somebody’s future career.

What is the best place you have travelled to?

For a girl that’s scared of flying…I haven’t been globetrotting as such. My favourite place that I have holidayed to would be Tenerife, seeing the Whales out in their natural environment was an experience like no other (minus the sea sickness of course), and I got to spend some precious time with my late brother which I am very grateful for.

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

I don’t want to brag…but I am a dab hand in the kitchen, and I make an amazing Slow Cooker fudge!

Do you have any pets?

I am a proud fur mummy to my little almost 12 year old doggy, Rocky-Joe. He is a Maltese- Chihuahua cross with some other stuff thrown in for good measure, and I re-homed him just before his 1st Birthday from an abusive home. He has various tablet controlled illnesses and he no doubt will give me my first grey hair but he really is my pride and joy.

What do you do in your spare time (if you have any)?

I really love to read, and I get a chapter or 2 in before bed every night. I enjoy typical girly rom-com type books, but I’m also partial to crime fiction and non-fiction. I also have recently joined a gym again.

What is your greatest achievement?

This would probably have to be completing my L3 Award in Education and Training during quite a stressful time in my life. I stuck with it, even though it was incredibly tough at times trying to juggle starting a new position and several family things that were happening, but I managed it and was so relieved and happy when I got confirmation of my pass through.

What is the dream car you would love to drive?

Slightly embarrassing, but I’ll go for the new Ford Puma, no reason behind it I just think they look nice, and I like the way Ford’s drive.

The best piece of advice you would give to your 16-year-old self?

If I could go back in time, I would most certainly tell 16 year old me to take the chances. Everything happens for a reason and we should trust the path that we pick for ourselves. If you want to do something, do it, take the chance.
