Apprentice of the Month - May

We’re excited to announce Josh Scott from EDA Apprenticeships Plus (Electric Center) as our Apprentice of the Month for May! Since starting his apprenticeship in November 2024, Josh has gone above and beyond in both his core responsibilities and in adding extra value to the business - making a real impact in a very short space of time.

From day one, Josh has demonstrated a meticulous approach to his work. He’s embraced the foundational aspects of warehouse operations, quickly developing strong competencies in stock intake, using the EPCS system, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the branch.

But what truly sets Josh apart is his initiative and creative thinking. Early in his apprenticeship, he attended a supplier ‘speed-dating’ event, where he spent time learning about products and connecting with potential suppliers - a sign of his eagerness to engage with the industry.

Josh's LSP Tutor, Damien, noted:

“Josh has consistently demonstrated meticulous attention to detail, ensuring his work meets the highest standards. What truly sets him apart is his proactive approach to adding value beyond his core responsibilities.”

Josh has taken his creativity to the next level by taking on the role of ‘Marketing Manager’. Using skills from his university studies, he’s designed flyers, created social media content, and launched eye-catching promotions - including themed campaigns around the Six Nations, Super Bowl, and even the introduction of Pot Noodles, porridge, and coffee for customers.

His “Pie Day Friday” campaign has been a customer favourite, and his work on reviving the branch’s Facebook page is proof of how he’s modernising customer engagement. You can see his impressive work here: Electric Center Huddersfield Facebook

Josh’s manager, Ryan, had this to say:

“Extremely pleased with the progress Josh is making. He applies himself well and learns quickly. Josh has spent the majority of his first 4 months working in the warehouse, a fundamental part of how we operate. However, because of his desire to learn and push forward, he is completing task far beyond what is expected of a first year apprentice, such as booking in, paying invoices and most impressive of all taking on the role of marketing within the branch, creating marketing campaigns for 2025 and leasing with the marketing department to have literature produced and sent out to customer regularly.”

Josh works closely with the wider marketing team and uses Canva to design promotional materials. His most recent initiative, the £10 mystery box, has generated great engagement, showing his understanding of both brand awareness and customer experience.

Josh’s enthusiasm, forward-thinking mindset, and ability to balance his apprenticeship duties with creative leadership are a huge credit to both himself and Electric Center.

Josh responded, saying:

“I'm really proud to be named Apprentice of the Month – thank you so much! I’d like to say a massive thank you to my tutor, Damien, for his continued support and guidance throughout my apprenticeship so far. I’m also really grateful to my manager, Ryan, for trusting me with opportunities beyond the day-to-day and always encouraging me to take initiative, and the rest of my team at Electric Center Huddersfield for all the help and mentorship I have received. I’ve really enjoyed being able to bring creativity to the role and contribute to the business in different ways. I’m excited to keep learning and pushing forward!”

Congratulations, Josh – your dedication, creativity, and can-do attitude make you a truly deserving Apprentice of the Month! We can’t wait to see what you do next.
