Theme of the Month - Hidden Disabilities
Understanding Hidden Disabilities
When we think of disabilities, it’s common to picture physical challenges - wheelchairs, canes, or hearing aids. But many disabilities aren’t immediately visible. These are known as hidden (or invisible) disabilities, and they affect millions of people around the world. From chronic pain and mental health conditions to neurological disorders and autoimmune diseases, hidden disabilities can shape every aspect of a person's life, often without others ever realising.
Because these conditions aren’t always obvious, those living with them can face unique challenges. Misunderstanding, judgment, or lack of support can be part of their daily experience, simply because their condition isn’t visible. That’s why awareness is essential.
This month, we're shining a spotlight on hidden disabilities—what they are, how they impact individuals, and how we can build a more inclusive and empathetic world.
