Alumni Spotlight: Declan Quibell

At LSP, we believe an apprenticeship is more than just a qualification. It’s an opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and create a strong foundation for future career progression.

Declan’s journey is a great example of how the skills and experience gained through an apprenticeship can continue to open doors long after completion.

Since completing his Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship in 2021, Declan has continued to progress within his career, moving into senior leadership before taking on his current role as an Aftermarket Sales Representative.

His journey demonstrates the lasting impact of professional development, showing how investing in yourself can provide the confidence, knowledge and skills needed to embrace new opportunities and take the next step in your career.

Building Confidence Through Learning

When Declan started his apprenticeship, his goal was to progress his career while developing his confidence and expanding his knowledge of leadership, coaching and business.

The programme gave him the opportunity to reflect on his own leadership style, strengthen his understanding of people and discover what motivates individuals within a team. He also developed practical skills around organisation and time management, helping him become more effective in his role.

Looking back on how his apprenticeship supported his progression, Declan said:

“It helped build my confidence and progress into higher management. It then allowed me to have the belief in myself to move into my current role which will help my career further.”

The confidence Declan gained throughout his apprenticeship became a key factor in his continued career development, helping him recognise his own potential and feel prepared to take on greater responsibilities.

Progressing into Leadership

Following the completion of his apprenticeship, Declan’s confidence grew significantly, helping him progress into a senior leadership role. One of his biggest career milestones was being promoted to Head of Parts for the Northern Region, a role that recognised both his capability and commitment.

The apprenticeship gave him the belief in his own abilities, ultimately giving him the confidence to step into his current role as an Aftermarket Sales Representative, where he continues to broaden his experience and develop his career even further.

A Career Highlight

Throughout his career, Declan has faced challenges that have tested his leadership and problem-solving abilities, with one particular achievement standing out.

During a major redevelopment project, Declan successfully managed the relocation of an entire department and £750,000 worth of parts - not once, but twice.

Alongside managing the complex logistics involved in moving such a large operation, Declan also ensured his team remained motivated and continued to achieve key performance indicators throughout the process.

The Long-Term Impact of Apprenticeships

Declan’s story shows that the benefits of an apprenticeship continue well beyond the end of the programme. The knowledge, confidence and transferable skills gained can support learners throughout their careers, helping them progress into new roles, take on leadership responsibilities and achieve their ambitions.

An apprenticeship can be the starting point for a journey of continuous growth and development - and Declan’s career progression is a great example of where that journey can lead.

Advice for Future Apprentices

When asked what advice he would give to someone considering an apprenticeship with LSP, Declan’s message is:

“Go for it. It will help you grow into the person you’re capable of becoming. Both personally and professionally, you’ll build the confidence needed to achieve things you’ve always dreamed of accomplishing.”

Declan’s journey is a reminder that an apprenticeship is not just about gaining a qualification - it’s about building the skills, confidence and ambition needed to create a successful future.

We’re proud to have supported Declan at the beginning of his journey and look forward to seeing where his career takes him next.
