Line Manager of the Month - August 26
August Line Manager of the Month: Alex Lisikow
Congratulations to Alex Lisikow from Murphy Group, our Line Manager of the Month, following a fantastic nomination from Support Coach, Diane.
Our Line Manager of the Month award shines a spotlight on managers who make a meaningful difference to the apprenticeship experience through their leadership, encouragement and commitment to helping others succeed. Alex has demonstrated all of these qualities, earning recognition for the positive impact he has had on the development of learners Joe and Liam.
Diane’s nomination highlights the important role Alex plays in supporting apprentices, helping them build confidence, develop their technical skills and take on new challenges throughout their apprenticeship journeys.
“I would like to nominate Alex for Line Manager of the Month in recognition of his outstanding leadership, commitment to developing apprentices, and the exceptional support he provides to both Joe Mercer and Liam Bond.”
“Alex consistently demonstrates the qualities of an exceptional manager through his dedication to nurturing talent, building confidence, and creating opportunities for growth.”
Under Alex’s guidance, Joe has made significant progress over recent months. After successfully completing his probation period, Joe became fully integrated into project teams and began contributing confidently to important project work.
Alex’s coaching and encouragement have helped Joe strengthen his technical knowledge, take on greater responsibility and successfully deliver a major project independently. The standard of Joe’s work was recognised when an engineer specifically requested his support on a subsequent project.
“The progress achieved by both Joe and Liam is a direct reflection of Alex's investment in their development and his ability to bring out the best in the people he manages.”
Joe’s nomination for Apprentice of the Month is another reflection of the progress he has made and the supportive environment Alex has helped to create.
Alex’s impact can also be seen in Liam’s achievements. Liam has been nominated for both Apprentice of the Month and Apprentice of the Year in recognition of his exceptional progress, professionalism and commitment throughout his apprenticeship.
“Liam has made exceptional progress, developing into a highly capable and trusted team member who manages his workload independently, takes ownership of responsibilities, and demonstrates maturity well beyond his apprenticeship level.”
Liam has also become someone colleagues can rely on for support, while successfully taking responsibility for significant project work during periods when senior team members have been unavailable.
One of Alex’s key strengths is his ability to provide guidance while also giving apprentices the confidence and independence to find solutions for themselves.
“His approach of demonstrating tasks, sharing knowledge, and then encouraging independent problem-solving has enabled both apprentices to develop confidence, technical expertise, and accountability.”
This balance of support and trust has allowed Joe and Liam to flourish, giving them the confidence to step outside their comfort zones, take on new responsibilities and prepare for their future careers.
Alex also actively encourages teamwork and mentorship within the wider team. His approach has helped create a culture where apprentices are encouraged not only to develop themselves, but also to support others.
“Liam has embraced a buddy role, supporting a younger apprentice and acting as a positive role model, which reflects the collaborative and developmental culture Alex has fostered within the team.”
“Both apprentices have consistently excelled academically and professionally, achieving results that exceed expectations and demonstrating outstanding commitment to their personal development.”
For Diane, the achievements of Joe and Liam demonstrate the impact Alex has had as a people manager and the importance he places on developing future talent.
“He invests significant time and effort in coaching, mentoring, and creating meaningful opportunities that allow individuals to develop their skills, gain confidence, and achieve their potential.”
That commitment has helped both apprentices become highly valued members of the team, while giving them the skills, experience and confidence to continue progressing in their careers.
Alex’s support extends beyond the day-to-day requirements of managing apprentices. Through his mentorship, encouragement and willingness to share his experience, he has helped create an environment where young professionals can take ownership of their development and realise what they are capable of achieving.
“Alex's commitment to developing future talent, his supportive leadership style, and the exceptional results achieved by those he manages make him a truly deserving recipient of the Line Manager of the Month award.”
The progress made by Joe and Liam demonstrates the difference that effective and supportive line management can make. Alex’s ability to combine leadership with encouragement, trust and practical support has helped both apprentices grow into confident and capable members of the Murphy Group team.
“Alex is an exemplary line manager whose dedication, mentorship, and ability to inspire growth in others make him thoroughly deserving of this recognition.”
Alex responded to this recognition saying:
“Thank you very much for this recognition. It is a privilege to see our apprentices grow and develop throughout their journey. The real credit belongs to the apprentices for their hard work and commitment, as well as to the LSP team for their continued support. Their dedication makes my role as a manager both rewarding and much easier.”
Congratulations Alex! Thank you for your continued leadership, support and commitment to helping Joe, Liam and those around you develop, grow and succeed.
