Line Manager of the Month: Marcel Grigson

We’re proud to recognise Marcel Grigson from Berkeley Homes as our November Line Manager of the Month, following a heartfelt nomination from her learner, Annabelle. Marcel’s supportive, thoughtful approach has played a key role in shaping Annabelle’s confidence, development, and experience within the business.

From the very start of Annabelle’s apprenticeship, Marcel has made time to offer consistent guidance and reassurance, helping her navigate both learning and workplace expectations. Annabelle shared how:

“My line manager has gone above and beyond to support my learning journey by consistently providing guidance and encouragement during our one-to-one catch-ups. She always prioritises time with me to review my work and ensure I have a clear understanding of my responsibilities.”

Creating a safe and open environment has been central to Marcel’s approach.

“I feel comfortable approaching her with any questions, as she is always patient, caring, and willing to explain things thoroughly.”

Marcel has also played a crucial role in helping Annabelle feel part of the wider team. Through inclusion and encouragement, she has supported a smooth transition into the business.

“Marcel has made a significant effort to help me integrate into the team by including me in team meetings and arranging opportunities to shadow my colleagues. This has greatly supported my transition into the business and allowed me to build relationships across the team.”

As Annabelle has become more settled into her role, Marcel has carefully increased her level of responsibility, providing opportunities that stretch and develop her skills while remaining mindful of balance.

“She has gradually increased my responsibilities by assigning me new projects and tasks, both independently and collaboratively. This has developed my learning, enabling me to contribute my own creativity and ideas to various projects. Throughout this process, she has been mindful of my workload and study commitments, regularly checking in to ensure I maintain a healthy balance.”

Reflecting on the impact Marcel has had overall, Annabelle explained just how vital her support has been to her development.

“Overall, Marcel has played a vital role in my professional development. Her ongoing support, constructive feedback, and willingness to challenge me with new opportunities have not only helped me grow in confidence but also strengthened my skills within the business.”

It’s clear that Marcel’s dedication, care, and commitment to developing others have made a lasting difference.

Marcel also shared her perspective on the journey so far, saying:

“Annabelle is the first customer experience apprentice to join the Berkeley Group. I am really enjoying supporting her on her learning journey with us and she is already adding value to my team here at the Oxford & Chiltern region.”
