Line Manager of the Month - November

To recognise the continuous encouragement provided by line managers, our learners and tutors are nominating those who are offering outstanding support to be in for a chance of being awarded Line Manager of the Month.

Congratulations to our November Line Manager of the Month, John Gilligan!

John was nominated by LSP Tutor, Chris, due to the amazing support he provides to learner Kieran, who is completing his Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship with Motus.

LSP Tutor, Chris said:

“Always makes time for progress reviews and is actively involved in engaging discussions that stretch and challenge conversations, explore a range of issues and constructive debate during the full length of the session! While dealing with intense workloads, John always makes the time to support Kieran.”

“John recognised that a focus on Health and Safety is not just a legal issue, but an ethical one too. He believes that Motus’ focus on having a safe workplace contributed to a recent ‘Apprenticeship Employer of the Year Award’. As is typical in review conversation with John, he expanded his discussion around ethics by referencing the game of golf as an excellent vehicle to learn this behaviour. He made the point that there is no referee and it’s based on trust.”

“Every communication between John and his apprentice is supportive and inclusive and John appears to actively recognise and appreciate the importance of equality and diversity in sports, personal life, and of course the workplace! “

“During the last review, John provided his apprentice with inspiring IAG! His advice was focused on looking at the hub usage data and communication support that will engage the driving forward of the department needs. He also identified that Kieran would benefit from working closely with a colleagues named Greg to support long term progression and development within the organisation.”

“In line with his Agile approach, conversations are supportive passionate! John recently highlighted how far Kieran has come during his programme! He also passionately led a political discussion, which connected to our talk about Fundamental British Values.”
