Line Manager of the Month: Darren Jackson

We’re proud to announce that our latest Line Manager of the Month is Darren Jackson at Bellway Homes, nominated by learner Olivia.

This recognition celebrates managers who go the extra mile to support their learners, not just in their day-to-day responsibilities, but in building confidence, capability and long-term career success. Darren’s nomination is a fantastic example of what great line management looks like - approachable, supportive and genuinely invested in development.

Olivia, who nominated Darren, highlighted the consistent support he provides across all aspects of her role:

“He is an extremely supportive and understanding manager. He always ensures that I understand my tasks, goes out of his way to assist and provide feedback on any assignment projects I'm doing with my course, and always finds time to help me, even when he is extremely busy.”

This level of commitment has created an environment where Olivia feels fully supported, both professionally and personally - something that can make all the difference in an apprenticeship journey.

“I can't begin to explain how grateful I am to have a manager who ticks all the boxes - I feel comfortable confiding in him, he respects me as a person and always ensures I have the right facilities and equipment to flourish in my role.”

Darren’s knowledge and willingness to share it have also played a key role in Olivia’s growth. By offering regular, constructive feedback, he ensures she is always learning and progressing:

“He is extremely knowledgeable and I can learn a lot from him. He always provides me with feedback on how I'm doing, which is important to my development.”

Darren also shared his appreciation for the recognition and reflected on Olivia’s progress:

“Firstly I am honoured to receive the accolade of Line Manager of the Month, and thank you Olivia for nominating me for this award in the first place, it is very much appreciated.

It is a pleasure working with Olivia, with her keenness to learn design processes and construction terminology and methods, along with her natural confidence and presentation skills, she has quickly integrated with our team. With a combination of working at Bellway and Olivia’s additional further education, I can see a long, successful career ahead for Olivia.”

Darren’s supportive approach, combined with his dedication to helping Olivia succeed, has clearly made a meaningful impact on her confidence and development.
