Apprentice of the Month - February 26

February Apprentice of the Month: Ruben Batchelor

We’re proud to share that our February Apprentice of the Month is Ruben Batchelor at EDA Apprenticeships Plus (Electric Center), nominated by LSP Tutor, Damien.

This recognition celebrates apprentices who demonstrate exceptional commitment, growth and a proactive attitude in their roles. Ruben’s journey so far is a brilliant example of how dedication and a willingness to step outside of your comfort zone can lead to real progress.

Ruben began his Trade Supplier apprenticeship in October at just 17 years old and has already made a strong impression. Damien highlighted how far Ruben has come in a short space of time:

“Ruben now regularly takes the lead at the counter, something he initially found challenging, showing real commitment to improving his confidence and skills. Although he has said he sometimes struggles to remember small details, he has developed quickly and now manages the branch’s away sales and returns.”

Ruben’s growth isn’t just about skills - it’s also reflected in his mindset and attitude:

“Ruben shows an excellent attitude, outstanding punctuality and a willingness to learn, which is what makes him stand out. He wants to push himself to be better, which is a great attribute. He takes initiative without being asked, for example, cleaning the coffee machine daily.”

With the support of his manager, Zippy, Ruben continues to build a strong foundation for his future.

“Ruben has clear development plans in place, including gaining experience in purchase ledger, learning more about away sales, completing his first EDA module on Principles of Electricity and producing customer quotes.”

He is also strengthening key professional skills, such as organisation and time management:

“Ruben is improving his organisation and time-management skills by using a daybook instead of loose notes.”

Ruben’s commitment to learning is already delivering results. He recently completed his first professional discussion and achieved a distinction, supported by strong examples and he is now preparing for his first mock knowledge test.

Ruben’s dedication, positive attitude and clear drive to improve make him a standout apprentice. His progress so far has been excellent and he has a very bright future ahead of him.

Ruben responded to this recognition:

“Thank you. My experience as an apprentice has been amazing. I have learnt so much thanks to Zippy and also Damien. They have guided me throughout to help me win and they deserve the recognition. I have tried my hardest since working here and I'm glad it's paying off, but I'm not stopping - I’ve still got to win the other months now as well!”

Congratulations, Ruben - a well-deserved Apprentice of the Month!
