Apprentice of the Month - September

To recognise the hard work of learners, our Tutors are nominating those who are doing exceptionally well throughout their apprenticeship to be awarded as our Apprentice of the Month.

Congratulations to our September Apprentice of the Month, Warren Burgess, who is currently completing his Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship with Vertu Motors. Warren was nominated by his Tutor, Joan and Line Manager, Jake following the amazing group wide recognition he has received from senior members of staff at Vertu.

After recently achieving outstanding Purchase Ledger statistics, Warren received amazing feedback from Vertu’s Assistant Divisional Finance Director and Divisional Finance Director. His work was also shared with Vertu’s Chief Financial Officer.

“The numbers are absolutely astonishing to myself and Jake, mainly because we see all of the other tasks Warren does away from registering invoices, including all of supplier statement recs, assisting credit control, monitoring energy usage across the accident repair centres, assisting Jake post month-end and much more. [The number of] invoices registered is an amazing achievement and shows a massive amount of dedication and hard-work, not to mention that being an apprentice he spends time doing college work and revising on top of this.” - Assistant Divisional Finance Director

It is clear that Warren is excelling in his role and throughout his apprenticeship programme, he shows exceptional commitment and dedication to succeed.

Warren’s Tutor, Joan said:

“Warren has been making great progress with his course to the point where he is now starting his workplace project and looking forward to his end point assessment.

Warren is keen to progress within the Business and with his qualifications in finance and has received excellent reviews from his manager and all senior Directors.”

“Warren is always keen to get things right and always asks the right questions to make sure this is the case for every aspect of his role.”

“Warren is working in a small team which is part of a much larger team, he can communicate excellently at all levels in the correct manner and will challenge in the most appropriate way if he feels it is appropriate.”

“Whilst supporting others within the team, Warren has become extremely professional and is making sure that he is sharing his experiences to help his colleagues get things right.”

“Warren takes a real pride in his work and coursework and has never missed a deadline for work to be submitted. The work that is submitted is always to an excellent standard.”

Warren’s Line Manager, Jake said:

“Warren through his excellent Purchase Ledger work has gained group wide recognition from our Assistant Divisional Finance Director, our Divisional Finance Director and the work he has been doing has been shown to our Chief Financial Officer.

Warren is performing exceptionally well and I could not be happier with his progress. Since starting in December Warren has established himself as an absolute pivotal member of the team during this time and since the departure of our Financial Controller and Assistant Accountant Warren has really stepped up to the plate and handled work far over and above what I’d usually expect of someone with not even 1 years’ experience in finance.

I am so impressed and how Warren approaches his workload and how he always asks the right questions and never takes anything at face value, an incredibly important characteristic of some who wants a long term career in finance. I see nothing but an incredibly bright future for Warren at Vertu Motors and my only concern is that I am able to continue to offer him the opportunity and guidance that he needs.

He is no longer a future star but currently a star within VARC and is now getting deserved group wide recognition. Warren should be incredibly proud of his achievements and developments so far and he is a pleasure to have in the team and I do not want to lose him.”
