June Apprentice of the Month: Olivia Butter

We are delighted to announce that Olivia Butter from Bellway has been named our July Apprentice of the Month, following an exceptional nomination from her LSP Tutor, Craig, Support Coach, Diane, and Line Manager, Darren.

This award recognises apprentices who consistently go above and beyond in their role, demonstrate outstanding commitment to their learning, and make a meaningful contribution to their employer. Olivia has done exactly that, impressing both her tutor and manager through her dedication, professionalism and determination to succeed.

Diane began her nomination by recognising the exceptional qualities Olivia has displayed throughout her apprenticeship, highlighting not only her academic achievements but also the resilience, professionalism and commitment she brings to her role every day.

“I am proud to nominate Olivia Butter in recognition of her outstanding commitment, resilience, academic excellence, leadership potential, and dedication to both her apprenticeship and Bellway.”

From the very beginning of her apprenticeship, Olivia has set a consistently high standard. Her strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn have enabled her to excel in both the classroom and the workplace, making her a standout apprentice throughout her programme.

Diane said:

“Olivia has consistently demonstrated an exceptional attitude towards learning and professional development. Throughout her apprenticeship, she has achieved distinctions, maintained excellent attendance and punctuality, and continually exceeded expectations in both her academic studies and workplace responsibilities.”

Olivia's ambitions extend well beyond completing her apprenticeship. She has embraced every opportunity to broaden her knowledge and develop professionally, demonstrating a genuine desire to build a long and successful career within Bellway and the construction industry.

Diane explained:

“Olivia's commitment to Bellway is evident in everything she does. She is fully invested in her role and actively seeks opportunities to develop her knowledge, skills, and experience. She consistently demonstrates enthusiasm for the construction industry and has clear ambitions to build a long-term career within Bellway, progressing through higher-level roles and further qualifications. Her dedication to both her own development and the success of the business makes her a valued and respected member of the team.”

As Olivia's confidence has grown, so has the trust placed in her by Bellway. She has become someone colleagues can rely on to take ownership of new challenges, showing initiative and finding solutions independently.

Diane highlighted this by saying:

“A key strength of Olivia's is her willingness to take ownership and show initiative. She approaches new tasks with confidence and professionalism, often taking the lead in finding solutions, conducting research, and resolving issues independently. Her proactive approach has enabled her to become increasingly trusted with significant responsibilities across a variety of projects.”

Alongside taking on greater responsibility, Olivia has earned respect through the way she works with others. Her professionalism, reliability and collaborative approach have made her a valued member of the team while also demonstrating leadership qualities beyond her current level of experience.

Diane added:

“Olivia has also demonstrated strong leadership qualities. She leads by example through her professionalism, reliability, resilience, and work ethic. She is highly organised, embraces feedback, and continually looks for ways to improve. She collaborates effectively with colleagues, supports team objectives, and contributes positively to project outcomes. Her ability to build relationships with consultants, stakeholders, and colleagues reflects a maturity and professionalism beyond her current level of experience.”

Throughout her apprenticeship, Olivia has made meaningful contributions across a variety of projects while continuing to expand her technical knowledge. The experience she has gained has allowed her to add real value to the business while developing the practical skills needed for a successful career.

Diane commented:

“The impact Olivia has had on team projects has been significant. Through her involvement in document coordination, drawing reviews, project administration, and technical support activities, she has made meaningful contributions to project delivery and team success. Her growing expertise in AutoCAD, drawing interpretation, project coordination, and technical documentation has enabled her to add real value to the business while continuing to develop her own capabilities.”

Despite everything she has already achieved, Olivia continues to push herself to improve. Rather than becoming complacent, she actively looks for new opportunities to strengthen her technical expertise and broaden her understanding of the construction industry.

Diane said:

“What is particularly impressive is that despite her achievements, Olivia remains committed to continuous improvement. She is focused on developing her AutoCAD skills further, increasing her understanding of construction methods, build sequencing, construction specifications, and standard construction details. She actively seeks opportunities to learn and grow, demonstrating a genuine passion for both her profession and future career progression.”

Reflecting on Olivia's progress as a whole, Diane described her as someone who consistently embodies the qualities expected of an outstanding apprentice and believes she has an extremely bright future ahead.

“Olivia embodies the qualities of an exceptional apprentice: determination, resilience, professionalism, ambition, and a commitment to excellence. Her consistent achievement of distinctions, outstanding attitude, leadership potential, positive impact on team projects, and unwavering dedication to Bellway make her an extremely deserving candidate for this nomination.”

“Olivia is a credit to herself, her team, and Bellway, and I have no doubt that she will continue to achieve great success throughout her career. It is a pleasure to support Olivia, I look forward to her Progress Reviews as she puts lots of effort into these and it pleases me to hear about her success.”

Olivia’s Tutor, Craig, also recognised Olivia's enthusiasm for learning and the positive influence she has within teaching sessions. Her confidence, willingness to participate and encouragement of others have made her a pleasure to teach.

He said:

“Olivia is a pleasure to teach. She actively participates in class, approaches tasks with enthusiasm, and consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to her learning. When questions arise, Olivia is often the first to speak up, taking the lead on behalf of her group. Her confidence and willingness to engage benefit not only her own development but also that of her peers.”

Her commitment is also reflected in her outstanding attendance and the consistently positive attitude she brings to every session.

Craig added:

“Olivia has maintained 100% attendance and is almost always the first to join each morning session. She brings a positive, cheerful energy to the classroom, encourages others, and works exceptionally well as part of a team.”

Olivia's academic performance has been exceptional throughout her apprenticeship. Her consistent distinction grades demonstrate the dedication and effort she applies to everything she undertakes.

Craig explained:

“Olivia consistently achieves Distinction grades in her assignments, a testament to her hard work, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence. It is inspiring to see these qualities in a young person. She is also fortunate to have the encouragement and support of her manager and colleagues, who clearly recognise her talent and potential.”

Craig concluded by explaining that Olivia has set an incredibly high benchmark for success and is thoroughly deserving of this recognition.

“Olivia is an exceptionally deserving nominee. If success in this qualification were a race, she would already be breaking the tape. Her dedication, resilience, and outstanding achievement place her in a league of her own.”

“Well done, Olivia. You are a dream to teach. Keep up the fantastic work and those 100% Distinctions!”

Olivia's Line Manager, Darren, has seen first-hand the impact she has made within Bellway. He praised the professionalism, determination and maturity she has demonstrated since joining the business.

He began:

“It is with immense pride that I nominate Olivia Butter for this award. Olivia is an exceptional apprentice whose commitment, professionalism, and determination have made a significant impact on both her own development and the success of our team. She consistently demonstrates qualities far beyond those expected at this stage of her career and has become a highly valued member of the Bellway technical team.”

Successfully balancing the demands of work and study is never easy, yet Olivia has consistently excelled in both. Her commitment to learning has been matched by the quality of her contribution within the workplace.

Darren highlighted this by saying:

“Since joining Bellway, Olivia has embraced every opportunity to learn and develop. She has consistently achieved Distinction grades throughout her apprenticeship whilst simultaneously excelling in the workplace, demonstrating an outstanding ability to balance academic excellence with professional responsibilities.”

As her experience has grown, Olivia has taken on increasingly important responsibilities across the business. Her attention to detail, confidence and ability to work independently have earned the trust and respect of colleagues at every level.

“Olivia has taken ownership of a wide range of important tasks, including coordinating Home User Guides, compiling Health and Safety Files, liaising with consultants and stakeholders, and supporting project handovers. She approaches every challenge with confidence, professionalism, and attention to detail. Her ability to work independently, identify solutions, and take initiative has earned my trust and the respect of colleagues across the business.”

Her growing technical knowledge has enabled her to contribute to projects in a meaningful way while continuing to develop valuable industry skills that will support her future career.

Darren said:

“Her contribution to project delivery has been substantial. Through her involvement in document coordination, drawing reviews, technical administration, and project support activities, she has added real value to the team. She has developed a strong understanding of AutoCAD, drawing interpretation, technical documentation, and project coordination, applying her learning in practical ways that benefit both the business and her own professional growth.”

Darren also recognised Olivia's mindset, noting that her ambition and willingness to embrace every opportunity to improve have played a significant role in her success.

“What particularly distinguishes Olivia is her attitude. She is proactive, enthusiastic, and eager to expand her knowledge. Rather than waiting for opportunities to come to her, she actively seeks them out. She welcomes feedback, learns quickly, and continually strives to improve. Her ambition and commitment to excellence set a powerful example for those around her.”

Her professionalism and collaborative approach have also helped her establish strong relationships across the business, making her a trusted and respected member of the Bellway team.

Darren added:

“Olivia is also an outstanding team player. She builds positive relationships with colleagues, consultants, and stakeholders through her approachable nature, strong communication skills, and professional conduct. She leads by example through her reliability, resilience, and strong work ethic, demonstrating leadership qualities that suggest a very bright future within the industry.”

Concluding his nomination, Darren explained that Olivia has become an outstanding example of what an apprentice can achieve through commitment, ambition and a willingness to learn.

“Olivia is not simply completing an apprenticeship; she is setting the benchmark for excellence. Her achievements, contributions, and determination make her an exceptionally deserving recipient of this award. I have no doubt that she will continue to achieve extraordinary success throughout her career, and I am proud to support her nomination.”

Following Olivia being awarded Apprentice of the Month, Darren commented:

“Olivia is an exceptional apprentice whose commitment, professionalism, and determination have made a significant impact on both her own development and the success of our team. She consistently demonstrates qualities far beyond those expected at this stage of her career and has become a highly valued member of the Bellway technical team - and her aspirations to progress into senior technical leadership roles reflect the potential I know she possesses.”

Caitlyn Brown, Group Future Talent Pastoral Coordinator at Bellway, congratulated Olivia on the recognition:

“Olivia is a fantastic member of our Future Talent cohort who exemplifies the very best of what Future Talent represents at Bellway. She consistently embraces every opportunity available to her, going well beyond the requirements of her apprenticeship. Olivia has made a significant contribution to wider Bellway activities, including local volunteering, supporting Future Talent Recruitment Assessment Centres by providing invaluable advice and guidance to candidates, and attending the HBF Skills Parliamentary Reception, where she networked with industry peers and MPs while promoting the diverse career pathways and opportunities available within the homebuilding industry.

Olivia is highly committed to her own professional development and is equally passionate about making a positive contribution to Bellway and our organisational values.
