Apprentice of the Month – April 2026
We are delighted to announce that our April Apprentice of the Month is Ben Butler at Vistry, following four fantastic nominations from Regional Operations Director Gavin, Line Manager Kimberley and colleagues Danielle and Jodie.
This recognition celebrates apprentices who demonstrate exceptional commitment, development and a positive attitude towards both their role and apprenticeship. Ben’s journey so far is a brilliant example of determination and enthusiasm, making a significant impact early in his career.
Gavin praised Ben’s dedication and strong approach to learning:
“Ben is a highly deserving nominee for Apprentice of the Month. As a Commercial Apprentice working as a Trainee Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Ben consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic, professionalism, and an impressive appetite for learning.”
He continued by highlighting Ben’s outstanding contribution to a major project:
“Ben is hardworking, diligent, inquisitive, and driven. He approaches every task with enthusiasm and has taken every opportunity offered to him with both hands, always keen to develop his knowledge and skills. His positive attitude and commitment to continuous learning set him apart and make him a valued member of the commercial team.”
“Most notably, Ben has been working on the procurement of a multi‑million‑pound parcel on our flagship Garden Village scheme in Taunton. Despite being early in his career, he has shown maturity and confidence beyond his experience, playing an active role in negotiations, securing strong commercial outcomes, and building positive, professional relationships across the supply chain.”
Gavin concluded by recognising Ben’s huge potential within the industry:
“Ben’s contribution to this high-profile scheme has been impressive, and his willingness to ask questions, take responsibility, and learn from experienced colleagues demonstrates significant potential. He is developing into a capable and reliable commercial professional and is already making a meaningful impact on the team.”
Danielle also praised the way Ben consistently demonstrates Vistry’s core values in everything he does:
“Ben is caring by supporting colleagues, building positive relationships and treating everyone with respect. He has an approachable nature and a willingness to help strengthen the team’s culture.”
She also highlighted his dedication to learning and improving standards across the business:
“Ben is committed to learn and applies new knowledge from his apprenticeship to enhance processes, raise standards and deliver work he can be proud of. ”
“His professionalism, positive attitude and genuine drive to grow makes him stand out as an apprentice who truly reflects Vistry’s values.”
Kimberley reflected on the positive impact Ben has had on both the commercial team and wider business:
“Ben is a well-respected individual within both the Commercial team and the wider business unit. Ben has a very calm, positive, adaptable demeanour and has proven to be a great asset to the team both within the office and out on site.”
She also praised Ben’s attitude in high-pressure situations and the example he sets for others:
“His personality is well suited to his role in this industry as it can be high pressured with challenging situations and conversations. I would go as far as saying Ben’s positive outlook and calm approach is a strong reflection and role model for other apprentices to take on board.”
Kimberley explained how impressed she has been with Ben’s development since starting his apprenticeship:
“Ben and I have created a tracker to monitor his ongoing progress and to see how much he has achieved since July 25 and continues to achieve, is impressive. His ability to learn and understand quickly when concentrating on a task, dealing with a scenario or managing day to day tasks, will only strengthen as he progresses more. I am confident he has a very bright future in this industry.”
She also highlighted Ben’s openness to feedback and eagerness to continue developing:
“Ben takes all types of feedback really well whilst always displaying positivity and enthusiasm to any given task which will always allow him to continuously grow, adapt and understand. Huge well done Ben!”
Jodie shared how quickly Ben has established himself within the business despite only being with the team for a short period of time:
“Ben has been with us for less than six months, yet he has already built strong relationships with both site teams and subcontractors. He communicates confidently in person and over the phone, and he is already leading pre‑let meetings — an impressive achievement at this stage of his development.”
She added:
“Ben is a polite, hardworking young man who never shies away from getting stuck in.”
Ben’s positive attitude, professionalism and willingness to learn have made him a valued member of the team, and his future within the industry is incredibly promising.
Congratulations, Ben — an extremely well-deserved Apprentice of the Month!
