Introduction
Functional Skills English and Maths are an important part of many apprenticeships, helping learners build the practical skills and confidence needed for work, study and everyday life. Whether you’re developing new skills or refreshing what you already know, our programmes are designed to support you at every stage.
English and Maths sessions are available to:
Learners who are required to complete English and/or maths as part of their apprenticeship
Learners who do not need Functional Skills for their programme but want to strengthen or enrich their English and maths abilities
Our Functional Skills Tutor also runs bitesize English and Maths webinars, open to all learners. These sessions offer extra support, practice opportunities and a relaxed space to build confidence in key areas.
Whether you’re working towards a qualification or simply want to boost your skills, we’re here to help you progress with confidence.

Transforming Skills: Learner Experiences of English and Maths Sessions
“I have refreshed my brain with averages. I like that the sessions are not just for people who are working towards their maths. I passed my maths whilst at school but these sessions allow me to have a refresher to ensure I am doing it correct.” - Mervedy
“What I like most is that sessions are open to everybody, not just people working towards their maths qualification. I also like that you don't have to attend every webinar and can chose the ones which benefit me most. I attended school/college a few years back now, so I’ve had a lot of time not doing maths everyday therefore these sessions really allow me to brush up on my skills and identify any area which I’m not fully confident in.” - Abigail
