Apprentice of the Month - January
We’re thrilled to congratulate Charlie Day as our January Apprentice of the Month! Charlie’s dedication and enthusiasm have already set him apart in the early stages of his apprenticeship, and we’re excited to share some of the highlights that earned him this well-deserved recognition.
Charlie began his Trade Supplier apprenticeship with EDA Apprenticeships Plus (Driffield Electrical Supplies) in December 2024, at just 16 years old. In his first full-time role, Charlie has embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and determination. Damien, Charlie’s Tutor says:
“Charlie has already demonstrated a strong commitment to his development and has made remarkable progress in a short time. For his first module, Charlie delivered an impressive presentation about the company, showcasing his ability to research and articulate key aspects of the business. His presentation included detailed insights into the company’s mission, values, and unique market position.”
Charlie’s eagerness to learn is clear in everything he does. He earned his forklift truck licence with impressive results, scoring 98% on the theory test and performing well on the practical assessment with only 8 minor deductions.
As Damien shared, “Remarkably, he achieved this even before learning to drive a car, a milestone he eagerly anticipates as he approaches his 17th birthday later this year.”
Charlie also stands out for his proactive attitude. He’s always ready to respond to feedback and improve.
Damien pointed out, “He has consistently responded positively to feedback on his coursework, making necessary adjustments and demonstrating a proactive approach to learning. His communication skills are commendable, especially for someone his age, as he regularly interacts with customers at the Trade Counter, delivering excellent service.”
In addition to his work, Charlie is constantly looking to expand his knowledge. He’s expressed a particular interest in solar panel technology and specialist heating systems, showing a real commitment to staying ahead of the curve.
Damien noted, “Charlie’s proactive attitude and eagerness to take on new responsibilities set him apart. He is not content with simply meeting the minimum requirements but actively seeks out opportunities to broaden his skills.”
Charlie’s first Professional Discussion with Damien was a resounding success, earning him a distinction. Damien added:
“His responses were detailed, thoughtful, and demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the topics discussed.”
While Charlie is still early in his apprenticeship, his work ethic, dedication, and passion are clear.
“I am confident he has the potential to excel in his role and beyond, and I look forward to seeing all that he will accomplish by the end of his course.” said Damien.
Well done, Charlie - you’ve absolutely earned Apprentice of the Month!
