Apprentice of the Month - August 25

We’re thrilled to celebrate Eleasha Hatton from National Gas as our August Apprentice of the Month! From the outset, Eleasha has demonstrated remarkable dedication, skill, and determination, quickly establishing herself as a key contributor within her team. Reflecting on her journey, her Tutor, David, describes her as“a pleasure to work with, a high achiever who hasn’t forgotten to help others along the way.”

Eleasha’s achievements speak volumes about her commitment to excellence. As David highlights, “Eleasha has performed superbly on her apprenticeship so far. She has achieved a distinction in her ECITB Certificate in Project Controls and exceeded expectations on her initial ECITB Diploma targets.”

Eleasha’s ability to adapt in the face of change has been particularly noteworthy. When her department underwent a significant restructure following the departure of her previous line manager, Eleasha rose to the challenge, maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues and quickly building rapport with her new manager. In David’s words:

“Her current department had undergone a big shift in structure following the departure of her line manager with whom Eleasha had an excellent relationship. She has embraced this challenge and ensured that the relationships she has created with colleagues is maintained and she has worked closely with her new line manager who has very quickly come to value Eleasha’s knowledge and skills. Eleasha frequently seeks new learning opportunities and has been working on new frameworks to support future planners, a task that has also required her to test her communications skills.”

Eleasha’s integrity is another area where she excels, consistently demonstrating a commitment to doing what is right, whether in her assignments or her everyday workplace interactions. David emphasises this point, saying:

“Eleasha consistently shows huge commitment to doing the right thing - whether in assignments which have been outstanding to date or in challenging behaviours in the workplace that could have a negative impact on the culture of the organisation.”

Her collaborative approach ensures that Eleasha not only meets her own high standards but also supports and uplifts those around her. David said:

“Eleasha goes above and beyond to support others. She values and places great effort to invest time to build positive working relationships and approaches challenges collaboratively. In her project work, she has created frameworks designed to save colleagues time and improve consistency, reflecting her desire to make life easier for those around her. She listens actively to take on board the feedback of others and strives to ensure the benefit of the changes she is introducing are understood and collectively owned.”

Beyond her immediate role, Eleasha’s influence extends to inspiring the next generation. As David explains:

“Eleasha has researched the under representation of women in both the energy and construction industries. She is presently working on an initiative to engage with school students to increase awareness of careers in these industries by sharing her own experiences and the benefits of working for her organisation and in the industry.”

Her dedication to personal growth and mentoring is equally impressive. Eleasha not only pushes herself to excel but actively supports her peers, ensuring they benefit from her knowledge and guidance.

“Eleasha is extremely proactive about advancing her learning and approaches tasks set for her not just to complete them, but to complete them well and to do more than asked. Her enthusiasm influences others, and other apprentices in her organisation have benefited from this and new apprentices starting shortly will hugely benefit from mentoring by Eleasha.”

Inclusivity and advocacy remain central to her work, helping to foster a culture of understanding and fairness within her organisation. David highlights this commitment, stating:

“Eleasha conscientiously and enthusiastically champions equality, diversity and inclusion. She has spoken about barriers faced by women in construction, and she has done much to promote awareness around neurodiversity to foster a greater understanding in her organisation.”

Eleasha responded to this recognition, saying:

“I’m really enjoying my apprenticeship with National Gas and I’m very proud to have been awarded Apprentice of the Month by LSP. The award recognised my adaptability, commitment to learning and support for colleagues, as well as my passion for promoting inclusion and early careers within gas and construction. I hope by sharing my experiences and successes, other people, especially those in their early careers, can be encouraged to reach their full potential.”

A huge well done Eleasha for everything you have achieved so far. Your commitment, determination and drive to support others make you a truly deserving Apprentice of the Month, and we’re excited to see what you accomplish next!
